TIEFENBRUNNER Pinot Grigio Vigneti delle Dolomiti 2013

A creamy white, focused by well-cut, juicy acidity, this offers a fine array of Gala apple, crunchy pear, lemon zest and ginger flavors. A stony undertow defines the finish. Drink now through 2019. 29,160 cases made.

Description
Winery Notes:

Light yellow to sandy-colored in appearance, with an unobtrusive bouquet, and hints of pear and candied fruit. The strong harmonious structure emphasizes its dry full-bodied taste and round finish.

Pairs well with light appetizers, fish and cuisine of northern Italy.

100% Pinot Grigio, grown on hillside vineyards in Kurtatsch (820 1300a.s.l. chalky soil) and sites in the plain of Margreid and Cortina (680a.s.l. sandy, alluvial soil)
Aged in stainless steel and concrete tanks. 13.5% ABV

About the Estate:
Schlosskellerei Tiefenbrunner is located in South Tyrol, a picturesque town in the Dolomites, a mountain range in northern Italy, around 100km south of the Austrian border. This region is one of the northernmost in Italy and due to its elevation, climate and soil structure, bears more of a resemblance to the wines of Austria than it does to its more southerly counterparts.

Schlosskellerei Tiefenbrunner, essentially Castle Tiefenbrunner, has records dating from 1225 A.D., with archeological finds of stone, bronze and iron objects in the area of the castle ruins indicating that it has been a site of human settlement since pre-historic times. The Tiefenbrunner wine estate in currently in its fifth generation in the family, and is more committed than ever to creating great wines that speak of the land in which they were created.

In addition to being a great historical and viticulture site, the Tiefenbrunner estate has been generating hydroelectric power for over a century, providing the estate and surrounding areas with clean energy as part of its commitment to the land.
