| Winery Notes: Our Merlot fruit comes from two blocks atop a knoll in the famed Hyde Vineyard, where harvests typically yield less than two tons per acre. It’s a youthful wine that's invitingly approachable, while still offering the richness and decadence we love. OUR TASTING NOTES Our 2009 Merlot bounces out of the glass full of very ripe, bright red cherry/plum, with a touch of cinnamon and clove—just a hint of orange peel and apricot fruit. As with the Cabernets, the texture here is full-bodied but with a very refreshing acidity and a fruit-focused finish. In the mouth the wine has structure and flow, giving you chocolate, coffee and cedar flavors. Make no mistake, this is one serious Merlot. Carneros, Stag’s Leap, and Coombsville fruit Whole berry fermented Aged 22 months in 100% new French oak Bottled unfiltered and unfined Alcohol 14.6% Merlot (Hyde Vineyard) 96% Cabernet Sauvignon 4% 339 cases produced |
