2011 Rocca Delle Macie Chianti Classico Riserva Zingarelli
ROCCA DELLE MACIE CHIANTI CLASSICO RISERVA 2011
A polished, delicious red with blueberry, chocolate and light walnut character. It's full-bodied, with layers of fruit and round tannins. Lovely balance between fruit and ripe tannins. Very approachable now but better in 2016.

2011 Rocca Delle Macie • Chianti Classico Famiglia Zingarelli
The 2011 Chianti Classico Famiglia Zingarelli opens to modern tones of black cherry and sweet spice with ripe concentration and a good sense of balance. The oak element is evident, but not overdone considering the ripe quality of 2011 fruit. This wine could definitely benefit from a year or more of bottle aging. The mouthfeel is velvety rich with a touch of sweet softness. Small percentages of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are added to the mix. I enjoyed the 2011 version much more than 2010. Drink date: 2015-2022

ROCCA DELLE MAC̀E Chianti Classico Famiglia Zingarelli Riserva 2011
Dark and dense, offering black currant, black cherry, licorice and spice flavors, with refined tannins and lively acidity for definition. Sweet fruit vies with the dusty tannins on the long finish. A modern style. Drink now through 2021. 29,200 cases made.

Rocca delle Macie 2011 Chianti Classico Riserva Famiglia Zingarelli
The 2011 Chianti Classico Riserva shows the richness of the vintage in its enveloping, generous personality. Sweet tobacco, cedar, leather and menthol add shades of nuance to the dark-fleshed fruit. The 2011 is a bit forward and the tannins are a bit rough, both of which suggests it is best enjoyed sooner rather than later. Drinking window: 2015 - 2019
by Antonio Galloni. Tasting date: July 2015
The flagship wine of the zone from which it comes, and the maximum expression of that zone's particular features, the label proudly bears the Zingarelli name in order to highlight the strong link that the family has with the Chianti Classico area. 90% Sangiovese and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes combine to create this ruby-red wine with its aroma of blackcurrant and marasca cherries, with notes of Peruvian pepper and sweet spices. Its equilibrium makes it a suitable accompaniment for a range of dishes, but it is also a great match for a good seasoned cheese.
