2013 La Ferme Du Mont Cotes Du Rhone Premiere Cote
2013 La Ferme du Mont Cotes du Rhone Premieres Cotes
The 2013 Côtes du Rhône Premières Côte is the first vineyard that gets harvested each year, generally in late September/early October. A blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre that will see 12 months in concrete tank, it’s an impressive 2013 that offers plenty of ripeness, medium-bodied depth and richness and terrific length. It tastes more like a mini Châteauneuf du Pape than a Côtes du Rhône, and should have 5-6 years of longevity. Drink: 2015 - 2021
Proprietor Stephane Vedeau continues to produce a bevy of high-quality Côtes du Rhône and Châteauneuf du Papes. Readers need to check out his Côtes du Rhônes as they represent superb values. His 2012s and 2013s are terrific.

The grapes are carefully selected from each terroir and enter in cases of 15 kgs in small tanks with no so2, long fermentation of 5-6 weeks, with soft extractions, at a maximum temperature of 25 C. Matured in traditional concrete vats, out of contact with the air, for at least 8 months. 15% of this cuvée is oak aged, Each varietal is vinified and matured separately before being blended for the final wine.
Nose: Aromas of spices and wild herbs (garrigues) and red fruits.
Palate: Defined by the sweetness of the fruit, and the softness of the tannins, with a freshness which brings finesse and elegance.
